The assessment framework is designed to support learning and professional development throughout the Fellowship. Rather than relying on examinations, the Fellowship uses a combination of supervised clinical practice, workplace-based assessment and reflective learning to demonstrate progress across the curriculum.
Assessments are intended to provide meaningful feedback, encourage reflection and ensure fellows develop the knowledge, skills and professional capabilities required for independent supportive oncology practice.
Throughout the Fellowship, fellows are supported by educational and clinical supervisors while building evidence within their portfolio.

Clinical Logbook
Reflective Practice
Educational Supervisor Reviews
End-of-Fellowship Review
Each fellow is allocated an Educational Supervisor who oversees progress throughout the Fellowship.
Formal review meetings are expected at:
• Initial Meeting – agreeing learning objectives and personal development goals.
• Mid-Point Review – reviewing progress, evidence and ongoing learning needs.
• Final Review – confirming achievement of the curriculum and readiness for completion.
Clinical Supervisors provide day-to-day supervision, feedback and support across individual clinical placements.
Rather than a single examination, fellows develop a portfolio demonstrating their breadth of experience and professional development throughout the year.
Evidence includes workplace-based assessments, clinical experience, reflective practice and supervisor reports mapped to the Fellowship curriculum.
At the end of the Fellowship, evidence within the portfolio is reviewed to ensure the curriculum outcomes have been achieved.
Following successful completion, fellows are awarded the UKASCC and Royal College of Radiologists Fellowship in Supportive Oncology Certificate, recognising successful completion of the Fellowship curriculum and the development of the capabilities required for contemporary supportive oncology practice.
