Workplace-Based Assessments (WPBAs) are designed to support learning through observation, feedback and reflection within day-to-day clinical practice. They provide opportunities for fellows to receive constructive feedback across a range of supportive oncology settings and should be viewed primarily as educational tools that promote professional development, rather than assessments to be completed.
Fellows are encouraged to use WPBAs throughout the fellowship to explore clinical decision-making, develop confidence and identify areas for continued growth.

WPBA Guidance
To gain the greatest educational value from WPBAs, fellows are encouraged to:
Select cases that provide meaningful opportunities for discussion and feedback.
Seek assessments from a range of supervisors and clinical settings where appropriate.
Complete assessments throughout the fellowship rather than collecting them towards the end of the year.
Use feedback to guide subsequent learning and discuss progress during Educational Supervisor meetings.
To demonstrate engagement with the curriculum, fellows are normally expected to complete a minimum of:
2 × Case-Based Discussions (CbDs)
2 × Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercises (Mini-CEXs)
These numbers represent a suggested minimum rather than a target. Fellows are encouraged to undertake additional WPBAs whenever they provide a valuable opportunity for feedback, reflection and learning.
The purpose of this evidence is to support learning and professional development rather than simply demonstrate completion of the fellowship.
